HEALTH PROBLEMS OF USING MOBILE PHONES

Because so many people use mobile phones, there is concern among medical researchers that any related health consequences, even small ones, may cause serious public health issues. It’s important to know the risks and potential effects of using your mobile phone and make your own mind up about how you’re using your mobile. There is a lot of discussion about the potential health effects of using cell phones. Through understanding what the risks are and how to avoid those, people can avoid health hazards.

Mobile phone health concerns:

Using radiofrequency (RF) radiation, mobile phones communicate with base stations. It has a’ thermal’ effect if RF radiation is high enough, which means it raises body temperature. There are issues that low RF radiation levels released into the atmosphere by mobile phones may cause health issues such as headaches or brain tumors.

Radiation for the use of mobile phones:

Radiation is an electrical and magnetic energy combination that travels at the speed of light through space also known as electromagnetic radiation (EMR).

Ionizing radiation (IR) – which can cause changes in the body’s atoms or molecules that can cause tissue damage such as cancer.

Non-ionizing radiation (NIR)–not causing these changes, but prompting the vibration of molecules. This can result in temperature increases as well as other effects. For instance, ultraviolet sunlight radiation, visible light, light bulbs, infrared radiation, microwave and radiofrequency energy are examples of NIR.

Eye Health:

Small text and bright screens may strain the eyes of users of mobile phones. Since smart phones, mobile, ipads and other mobile phones for seniors are intended for short range reading, the eyes of users must continuously refocus and realign to process on-screen visuals and text.

Precautions to reduce exposure to mobile phones:

We can prevent mobile phone radiations by taking some good steps;

-Selecting a cell phone model with a low particular absorption rate (SAR) referring to the amount of RF radiation consumed by body tissue

-using a landline phone if you have one

– phone calls are kept short

-Be careful that claims that RF radiation exposure can be decreased by sensitive devices or’ shields’–there is no evidence to show that these devices work. They can actually boost RF radiation because the phone will immediately increase its RF output to fight the shield’s impacts to get the best communication level.
